The Waters on Mayowood residents got a taste of some former local favorites.

Michael’s Restaurant has been closed for nearly ten years, but Thursday, its former owner, George Pappas, greeted seniors living at the Waters on Mayowood. Joined by former Hubbell House owner, Don Pappas, the two spoke to residents at the living center, where they got to enjoy a taste of Michael’s classic dishes.

“When they ask how many people have been at the Hubble House and Michael’s, every hand is up and that just gives you a great feeling,” said George Pappas.

Michael’s signature onion rings, Greek chicken, orzo, and bread pudding were on the menu.

“It’s just been really thrilling just to experience all the hospitality again that we experienced all the years we were in the business,” said Don Pappas.

Nearly ten years since its closure, George Pappas gave an update on the site of his old restaurant, sharing that he has developers interested in the portion of the property he still owns.

“The plans have been put out there a little bit, but nothing’s very real developed on it. We still own 30,000 square feet of parking lot and we’re looking for we have developers interested in that as well,” George Pappas said.
